Employment Horizons is the grateful recipient of a $25,000 grant to support the Career Development Services division in assisting individuals with disabilities to obtain employment. The grant, awarded by the Summit Area Public Foundation (SAPF), will assist Employment Horizons in providing award-winning job placement services to individuals with special needs.
Career Development Services staff help each person referred for services to identify an employment goal, focusing on their strengths and addressing barriers to secure the best possible job match. Individuals may learn job search skills such as developing a resume, completing applications and interviewing. Following job placement, individualized job coaching is provided to learn job tasks, teach self-advocacy skills, develop soft skills, and to provide emotional support.
The generous support of the Summit Area Public Foundation will enable Employment Horizons to expand job placement capacity through the addition of a full-time Job Developer, meeting a critical need necessitated by a rapidly growing demand for services. In addition to assisting individuals with finding employment, Employment Horizons’ Job Developers have embraced technology through the use of a virtual job interview training program.
